Heat Illness

GPS challenge of the week…Heat Illness!  As the temperature rises so do the incidents of heat illnesses.  Workers in hot environments should stay hydrated (no alcohol or caffeine products as these will dehydrate you) and monitor themselves and others for heat illness symptoms.

Some symptoms of heat illness are headache, nausea or vomiting, muscle spasms, fast heartbeat, confusion, fainting, red, hot dry skin or excessive sweating.  If you or a coworker experience any of these symptoms, seek a cool area and contact your supervisor.

If you experience or see a safety concern on your assignment, please contact our GPS Safety Hotline at 803-760-1441 or contact your local GPS office.

If you are injured on your assignment, please call MEDCOR at 1-800-775-5866 then contact your local GPS office.
